The History of Spangaro & Co

Our history

How it all began
In the 1980s, Nara and Gianandrea turned their shared passion for the art of goldsmithing into a project destined to grow over time. It all began in the workshop, amidst production, restoration and a constant pursuit of excellence, as they developed extensive expertise in the world of jewellery, watches and collectables. Thanks to the insight of their son Jacopo, Spangaro & Co. emerged from these roots: an international company that reinterprets the world of auctions with a contemporary perspective, through carefully curated selections, dynamic processes and a vision geared towards the global market.

The bond between father and son

A growing passion
With Jacopo’s arrival in the early 1990s, the family’s history entered a new phase. Having grown up amidst the workshop, international fairs and extraordinary objects, he developed a natural sensitivity towards value, rarity and collecting from a young age.
Following Nara’s passing in 2004, Gianandrea and Jacopo continued on this path together, combining experience and innovation. This gave rise to a new concept of an auction house: contemporary, international, dynamic and fast-paced, capable of showcasing every object in the most suitable context, whilst always maintaining the utmost care in selection and processes.

Tradition and memory, innovation and the future

Drawing on memories and the expertise gained through experience, a new, authentic and unconventional venture comes to life – one that recognises the value of every object and is captivated by its uniqueness.

The founding of the auction house

Spangaro Auctions: excellence and an international outlook
This is how Spangaro & Co Aste came into being, the first auction house in Friuli Venezia Giulia: an international organisation with deep roots in its local area. Located in the heart of Udine, a natural crossroads between Italy, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia, Spangaro & Co Aste combines local roots with a global vision, establishing itself as a leading player in the sector.
The historic Palazzina Sommariva hosts auctions, exclusive events and immersive exhibitions. Alongside its traditional travelling auctions, the auction house continues to grow through new venues and a constantly expanding national presence.
The auction house stands out for its innovative and direct approach: in-house restoration workshops, logistics, dedicated digital applications and streamlined processes designed to simplify every stage, from the preparation of lots to the sale. Furthermore, clients are always in direct contact with our experts through constant and informed dialogue.

Meet the experts

The One charity auction

Where watches, wine and cars meet
The One reinterprets the concept of an auction as an experiential event, combining fine watchmaking, collecting, classic cars and the culture of fine living. An exclusive format in which luxury, socialising and entertainment merge into a single multi-sensory experience.
Designed for an international audience, it creates a setting where collectors and experts can meet, and where the value of the items is enhanced through shared experiences. It is not just an auction, but a new way of experiencing collecting through relationships, culture and dialogue.
The event is structured around four key moments: the Auction Preview, featuring a presentation of the lots and personalised advice; a Classic Car Tour through selected landscapes in historic cars; the Auction itself, the heart of the event with international auctioneers; and the Grand Gala, an exclusive dinner with entertainment and international guests.
Every stage is meticulously organised, with personalised hospitality and carefully selected services. The One is a complete experience where objects, people and the local area come together, transforming the auction into a unique and lasting memory.
