Developed through the collaboration with the German automotive brand Porsche, IWC launched this series in 1978 with the aim of expanding its market share and boosting sales. The collection was entirely designed by Ferdinand A. Porsche, the creator of the 911, who after leaving the family automotive company founded Porsche Design Studio. His approach embraced a minimalist Bauhaus aesthetic, perfectly aligned with IWC’s design philosophy. This collaboration became one of the most iconic in watchmaking history, both for its clean lines and the distinctive black color achieved through PVD treatment of the cases.
